That’s bad! No, that’s good…

We played this game lots when I was growing up. Daddy was really good at it, and we could get silly pretty fast. Here’s my version for now, with respect to our leaking roof!

The estimates for our roof repair have come in.

That’s good!

No, that’s bad. It’s several thousand dollars, and that doesn’t include the damage to the ceiling and walls and carpet.

Oh, that’s bad!

No, that’s good. Turns out, my friend Cheryl P gave me a number to call and check to see if the roof might still be under warranty.

Oh, that’s good!

No, that’s bad. The guy who came out for a cursory look blamed the gutter installation, said it voided the warranty.

Oh, that’s bad!

No, that’s good. Instead of sending roofers to give me an estimate yesterday, they came to repair the roof. It’s still covered by the warranty after all.

Oh, that’s good!

No, that’s bad. They said the damage was more extensive than they thought, and they aren’t able to patch it.

Oh, that’s bad!

No, that’s good. They’re coming back today to fix it.

Oh that’s good!

No, that’s bad. It’s pouring down rain today.

Oh, that’s bad!

No, that’s good. They put up a huge tarp before they left yesterday, so the worst of the downpour poured off.

Oh, that’s good!

No, that’s bad. The tarp only helped a little. At one point, it sounded like someone was taking a shower in the bedroom as the water poured through the guest room ceiling into the bucket!

Oh, that’s bad!

No, that’s good. I have buckets and towels and a dryer. And the rain is abating a bit, so I can get the towels dry in time for rain round two.

Oh, that’s good!

No, that’s bad. It’s supposed to rain all day, so I have to stay home and empty the bucket and swap out the towels.

Oh, that’s bad!

No, that’s good. I’ll write a blog post between dryer loads!

Thanks, Mom. Fun game. I think of it often, play it in my head. That game, and “it could have been a wedding…”

    I never played that game.
    That’s bad!
No, it would have driven me crazy.
    That’s good!
No, I would have learned to see the positive in things…
    That’s good!
I’m an utter failure at this game.
    That’s bad!
But I found your post amusing.
    That’s good!
But it reminds me I haven’t written lately.
    That’s bad!
But I haven’t got time to do it, I have to do laundry.
    That’s … bad?
No, that’s good – that means I have laundry TO do!
    That’s good?
    I guess … lol
